SME4Labour and Lowick Fringe: Organising to Win – Labour Victory Fund

The Labour Victory Fund launched at Labour Party Conference in Liverpool this week.

Directed by Kevin McKeever and chaired by Peter Mandelson, the Labour Victory Fund aims to support Labour candidates standing marginal seats as we prepare for the next General Election.

During the fringe event the director Kevin McKeever announced that the Labour Victory Fund will be releasing 10 x ÂŁ5,000 grants in its first wave of giving. Grants are supported by a panel of PR experts to help maximise the campaign impact for PPCs and their local parties.

Kevin was joined on the panel by James Frith (former MP and PPC for Bury North), Catherine Atkinson (PPC for Derby North), Emily Darlington (PPC for Milton Keynes South) and Kim McGuinness (Police and Crime Commissioner for Northumbria). Each of the panellists shared their experiences of campaigning for the Labour Party and the importance of funding in their previous and future campaigns.

James Frith told the fringe meeting that successful in winning one of the first grants from the Labour Victory Fund he will be hiring an organiser to help Labour win Bury North. Emily Darlington explained the importance of receiving funding early in order to lay the groundwork for a Labour victory before the official General Election campaign begins, explaining that the Labour Victory Fund’s grants will help with this.

The fringe event was followed by a reception where Kevin McKeever told attendees, “Now more than even the Labour movement needs to pull together and craft the building blocks of the next Labour government. The Labour Victory Fund is proud to play its part in giving funds and expertise to target seat candidates whose victory is vital to achieving a Labour government”.
