SME4Labour, Community Union & Labour Women’s Network Fringe: From Menopause to Mental Health to Maternity: When will Women be Heard in Healthcare?

We help facilitate a discussion with the Labour Women’s Network & Community Union about menopause and the importance of discussing women’s health issues.

They were joined by Rosena Allin-Khan MP, Taiwo Owatemi MP, Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP, Ashley Dalton now PPC for West Lancashire, Elizabeth Ellis from Community Union and Claire Murphy.

The discussion focused around the impact menopause has on women, and the way that a culture of silence has impacted understanding of these issues. Including both the physical and emotional trauma that women can suffer.

Rosena addressed the need for Labour Health Policy, both in government and opposition, to centre womens experiences regarding the menopause – and for an open and honest discussion of the problems faced, to enable effective treatments to be created.
