I am writing to praise the work of SME4Labour which is needed now more than ever at this vital juncture as we emerge from covid storm. Small and medium-sized enterprises are the beating heart of every town and city in the nation and whilst many self-employed have weathered the triple shock of the financial downturn, Brexit and now the coronavirus global pandemic, SME4Labour provides a necessary and effective voice for this sector at our party’s top levels to formulate policies for Labour for power.
Although younger than trade unions, SMe4Labour is increasingly and indispensable part of the twentyfirst century Labour family and a key building block of getting us back into government. As a child of small business myself (my dad launched as Indian restaurant in the 1980 recession!) I know how courageous small businesses are in tough times and am full of admiration for those running them.
Under your energetic leadership spanning numerous cross cutting sectoral concerns and of course championing annual calendar highlight for any politicians, long may SME4Labour keep up its excellent fork.
