Julius Nkafu

Julius is a Practising Barrister specialising in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution, practising in City of London.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an expert in International Arbitration and Mediation. Julius understands and is qualified in Trust, Diplomacy and Conflict Transformation.

Founder and Chair of ‘Africans for Labour’ an Organisation promoting greater policy understanding and mutually beneficial activities between the Labour Party and Africans in the United Kingdom and the Continent.

Julius is Chair of the Finance and Legal Branch of the Unite Union – London and East Region – 0480.

Has been part of the Commonwealth observers’ mission in Africa, was one of the observers in the General Elections of Zambia in August 2017, Presidential elections in Sierra Leone in 2018 as well as the FCO missions for the referendum in the Republic of Macedonia in 2018 and the General Election in Georgia in 2021.

Julius sits on the Appeals and Sanctions Board of the African Development Bank Group.

Experienced Chairperson, and skilled public speaker, having chaired the Multi – Agency Racial Incidents Forum, Hate Crime Forum, Homophobic Crime Forum and the first Recommendation 61 (Macpherson report) Monitoring Group in the United Kingdom.

Previous roles include; Solicitor, Teacher in London, Councillor for London Borough of Hackney (2002 – 2014); Labour cabinet member responsible for Crime and Community Safety and Engagement and one of the founding members of the very successful ‘Team Hackney,’ Hackney’s locall strategic partnership in London, legal advisor Race and Equality Council amongst others.
