The past 12 months have been incredibly difficult for businesses across the country as we begin our economic recovery from COVID-19, and no one has felt this more than our SMEs.
SMEs are at the heart of our community and economy, with SME’s accounting for 52% of private sector turnover in 2020 and 60% of all private sector jobs in the UK (a total of 16.6 million), contributing to their status as the largest employers throughout the UK.
Despite this immense contribution, and the severity with which SMEs felt the impact of COVID-19, they have received little support from this Tory government, who have shown time and time again that they care more for the pockets of their mates than they do for hard working people across the UK.
I congratulate all the team at SME4Labour for the great work they do in bringing this vital part of the Labour family together, and I look forward to hopefully celebrating with you at this November’s 4th annual Gala.
