SME4Labour seeks to strengthen relations between the self-employed and small, medium, micro, and family run businesses with the Labour Party. We support constructive and informed discussion within the Labour movement on issues impacting upon SMEs, and work closely with trade unions, employers’ groups and individuals to encourage partnership and collaboration. We organise meetings for Labour Parliamentarians and others, so that a greater understanding of the challenges faced by SMEs can be gained.

Last December, SME4Labour held its 2nd Gala at the Park Lane Sheraton Hotel in Piccadilly which was attended by over 400 guest. This included over 60 Labour MPs and peers, including several members of the shadow cabinet. They were joined by mayors, local councillors and other members of the Labour family, alongside trade union leaders and distinguished figures from the business community.

The evening’s keynote speech was delivered by Rebecca Long-Bailey MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Other speakers included Bill Esterson MP, Shadow Minister for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; Iain McNicol, General Secretary of the Labour Party; Stephen Kinnock MP; and Tim Roache, General Secretary of the GMB; all of whom praised SME4Labours work in promoting the interests of small and medium sized enterprises and the self employed.

At this year’s gala and awards ceremony, we will once again be joined by an array of Labour MPs, Lords, Baronesses, Councillors, grandees and more, as well as SME owners and trade unionists. It promises to be a highlight of Labour’s end-of-year calendar.
